This is the only scuba dive I did during this trip. Most of the shore dive sites on Maui are pretty shallow with a maximum depth of around 30'. There are deeper dives, but they were inaccessible when I was there due to the waves. I figured that you could see pretty much everything by snorkeling at these shallow sites and using scuba gear would just be an extra hassle. Ahihi Bay is also very shallow, but I decided to rent dive gear and scuba dive here in order to try and take better photos of the fish. The fish in Hawaii seem to not let me get closer than about 4' before they swim away behind the coral. I find using scuba lets me hover in place and take my time approaching fish which seems to make photography a bit more successful compared to diving down while holding my breath. Anyway, most of the small fish seem to be lost in the landscape in the super-wide fisheye lens photos. Most of this site is only around 10' deep. I had to swim out pretty far to reach my maximum depth of 33'.
