Today (Oct. 24, 2021) I wanted to swim out to the Northern point at the entrance to the bay, where the chart shows a steep drop to about 150' deep.
Visibility in the shallows was a promising 20-30' as I swam out on the surface to the point.
At the point, I descended and swam down the steep slope. Between 10 and 50' deep, the visibility dropped to maybe 15'. Below that, it cleared up to about 40' of visibility, but it was pretty dark. The topography was made up of vertical walls with small ledges. I went down to 120' deep, where the bottom was more of a boulder slope. I could see the rocky bottom continue down to about 130' deep. There wasn't much marine life here. There were no sponges or anemones. There were a few lingcod, brown/copper/Puget Sound rockfish and a small school of yellowtail rockfish.
